The retract arm saves tons of time and labor. The open bottom box wedge gives the best features of a box wedge like consistent piece size but its open bottom produces less strain on the splitter and less waste than a closed box wedge. Other using a complete closed wedge produces much more trash wood.  

This is a well build splitter. Besides the 27HP engine and 27.5gpm pump it offers the ability to split quickly with a 6 second cycle time.
